Explanation: Input buffers and true bypass and the Boss TU-2 « Reply #1 on: May 17, 2005, 01:56:44 PM » If you think of current like water and impedence like pipes, a high impedence is like a small pipe and low impedence is like a large one.
Nov 24, 2013 · Gearmanndude ends his pedalboard with a Boss TU-2 (a great tuner with a great buffer), so that the signal produced by the pedal board gets pushed through any amount of guitar cable into the amp. The more the guitar cable between the guitar and the amp, the greater the need for a buffer to reduce the loss of your original signal from the pickups FZone PT-01 True By Pass Chromatic Pedal Tuner, mint condition, No box. Most tuners (such as Boss TU-2, TU-3) are buffered pedals which make them unsuitable to use, if placed before a germanium transistor fuzz. Output impedance of a buffered pedal is far too high for the input of a germanium tra The buffer is awesome on it (which also can be set to true bypass unlike the TU-3) and it handles low turnings without an issue. The only perceivable downside to the TU-3w is it is a touch slower to register when tuning than a Polytune. The TU-2’s original circuitry has been redesigned from the ground up for the most transparent, pure, and uncolored audio signal pass-through currently possible--an essential feature for any and all tuner pedals. The Boss TU-3W also features selectable buffered and true-bypass operation modes. In addition to strengthening the analog dry signal, buffered bypass has the added benefit of enabling carryover, so delay trails are not cut off unnaturally when the effect is switched off. Advanced Features for Stage and Studio Use In the world of sophisticated delay stomps, the DD-500 stands alone in practical usability.

Jul 31, 2016 · One of the newest additions to the line is the sleek, blackest-black, TU-3W. For fifty bucks more than a standard TU-3, the Waza tuner offers an improved, hi-fidelity buffered bypass, enhancing one of the original's best features, while also offering a switchable true bypass function. Nov 15, 2010 · Sadly, they didn’t think it’d be a good idea to include true bypass in the upgrades, which would have made the buffer stage redundant… Later, Vox introduced the V845, which turned out to be the same thing as the V847-A, but without the buffer stage. Still no true bypass, though… luckily, this guide works for both of them. Aug 15, 2014 · In my tests, I discovered that the BOSS TU-2's buffer seemed to tame the squealing. There is a schematic of the TU-2 online, and it looks like the buffered bypass is an FET buffer at the input followed by a BJT buffer at the output. Maybe that's the magic? I may try building the Klon buffer eventually and see if that does the trick. Reply Delete Or you can use a buffered tuner – having both functions in one box is a good idea, since both tend to live first (or very early) in the chain. I use a Korg DT-10 tuner on my board for this, and plenty of people swear by the Boss TU-2/3, which is also fine. However, most tuners these days seem to be true bypass.
And SBLP - you don't need an EQ pedal to solve any alleged "Buffer/True Bypass debacle" IMO. There is no debacle. All you gotta do to keep zero tone suck is use a mixture of high quality buffered and true bypass pedals. Minimise the number of pedals (I never go over 10), use good quality patch cables and minimise the total cable length.
