Wearing a full set of Fire Armor will completely protect the wearer from fire damage. Fire Chestplates are currently only obtainable in Creative Mode or using an inventory editor, like NEI. Turtle shells also give the player two armour points, which is the same amount provided by iron, gold and chain helmets – and a little less than diamond. Aside from the free water breathing, the other big benefit of a turtle shell over a regular iron helmet is durability – a turtle shell will take almost twice as many hits before breaking. Upgrade 3 would make the Turtle Shell a better helmet than Diamond. And last but not least, repairing an upgraded Turtle Shell should only be possible with a Turtle Shell of the same upgrade level.
